Economics of complexity: product mapping through international trade data analysis

Economics of complexity: product mapping through international trade data analysis
Type:Masterarbeit
Supervisor:

Ivan Savin

Short description: The following work involves analysis of the empirical data with further comparison to the predictions of a theoretical model. In particular a network of technological interrelations between industries or a so called ’product space’ will be built out of trade networks of countries. This space will be mapped to a theoretical predictions using a network analysis tools.

Experience in one of the fields is not a must but is helpful:

  • data analysis using programming languages like java, python, others
  • ability to work with large datasets
  • knowledge in social network analysis, network science or graph theory, network’s software, network’s visualizations (Gephi)
