The aim of the workshop is to provide some basic insights into the methods used in economics research. This term we will focuse on relational databases. In particular, students will work with European patent office database - PATSTAT. They will analyse patent statistics in such topics as Nanotechnology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, or other (one topic per student). Assessment will be based on a small report of 5-7 pages. A prior knowledge in relational databases, Microsoft SQL Studio or experience with patents is welcome but not needed. The workshop will be held in English.

The introductory lecture to the workshop will take place on 17th May 2016 between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm in building 20.12 room 002.
