Profile

Martha Loewe combines three disciplines: Theoretical linguistics, mathematics and economics. Her research focuses on the new research and outreach format “Real-World Lab” and the hopes, fears and acceptance of robots and artificial intelligence in society.

Martha completed a master's degree in Theoretical Linguistics, History, and Law at the Universities of Stuttgart and Konstanz.  She also studied mathematics (B. Sc.) at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). She developed her economics background at the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA), where she was involved in the founding and development of the Wisconsin National Data Consortium. The consortium provides economics data for 68 economic sectors at the US state level and associated models.

Martha joined the Chair of Economic Policy in August 2022 and is involved in two projects: the Real-World Lab Robotics Artificial Intelligence and Clean Circles.

  • The new research and outreach format “Real-World Lab”. Real-world labs are a new research format where researchers from research institutions partner with members of the general public to work on solutions for pressing societal problems.
